Information received recently indicates a secretive process between a new group and the BMCC
Posted April 2015
Recent information from sources within the Blue Mountains City Council show the council have had what appear to be undisclosed meetings with a group interested in running the Old Katoomba Library now called the Katoomba Community Hall.
Although almost nothing is known about this new group it is believed that most are made up of people who are not from Katoomba.
It is noted that no one is against the involvement of anyone from the Blue Mountains who would help develop the Katoomba venue. However information provided shows that the facility maybe run from Springwood.
It would be a normal concern for any township in the Blue Mountains were they to discover that another township is given management over their Community Facilities.
The Katoomba Theatre Company on behalf of concerned residents has made informal approaches to council several times requesting information as an interested party under the NSW freedom of information act (GiPA).
But so far all requests have been rejected. It is understood that these rejections were based on technical grounds.
